School

Hey guys!

It's only been a week since school started and I am already so busy T.T I have two exams coming up and two projects due next week. And so, I have been busy all week.

It will get harder and harder for me to update everyday. Which was what I wanted to do when I started this blog. Haish, I seriously underestimated how busy sec 3 can get :( But I'll try to update every time I go out for something or something interesting occurs :)

Nothing much happened this past week. Except that we had a math test on Wednesday that I had no clue about until on Monday. God, I should check the school website more often -.- It was just a small math test that carried 3% of our overall marks for math. And it was on freaking remainder and factor theorem which I don't understand at all and so, decided not to study for it :D

Besides that, we also had a History test yesterday. Before the June holidays, our teacher gave us a History SBQ paper to do as homework. When she returned our papers to us, she said we did not do as well as expected, so she decided to make us do another one during class time on Friday.

Okay, I did relatively better on the homework than many of my classmates because I had the luxury of time to think about what to write on paper and I could easily refer to my notes. However, the actual test was only 50 minutes. And you can imagine how much I had to rush through to finish writing the paper -.- and I also didn't have my notes with me! TT.TT

ugh...I think I'll do worse for the class paper. And I really want to get A for History this term. I can't believe I got a freaking C for History last term. What the hell happened?!

I can't believe that I decided to mug for this term -.- Yesterday, I went to the library and photocopied past year Math and History papers. I can't believe this. I'd never done this in my entire two and half years in secondary school... Must be because everyone around me is starting to mug too.

Yosh, so far, everything has been about my academics. I am so sorry that the topic is so dry... What else can a student talk about when school reopens? Or is it just me?

Ahh.. I really really need to draw out a study plan for to mug for my upcoming exams. It's in two weeks' time!!! Where did the time go?! Nearly one week has passed!! I should really stop procrastinating...

That's all the news I have for today. It's back to being a social recluse for now...

The love of typing

Hello again:)

Ahhh! I don't know why I am typing again. I just like it so much that I am doing another post!! I really have itchy fingers lol. I couldn't even concentrate on the drama I was watching because I badly wanted to type something down.

This always happens to me after I finish typing up a post. I want to continue typing and typing. I just really like typing. Whether it is the laptop keyboard or the iPhone keyboard.

I think it must have evolved from my love of writing. I had always loved to write when I was younger. And it's no surprise that I love English. I used to do pretty well for all my compositions. And I do relatively well for my essays now. But I hate essay-writing while I used to love writing compositions.

The difference between essays and compositions is that one is written after some planning has been done while the other has to be written on the spot. sort of like impromptu. I guess I always did better when doing impromptu. Planning just isn't really my thing. And the thing about essays is that they always carry a heavy weightage of your marks. Which is really pressurizing.

But now, instead of loving writing, I love to type! I guessed it just evolved with the times. Back then, it was still very common to write. As in on notebooks and on foolscap paper. But after a while, everyone just migrated to typing as it is much much faster and I migrated along :)

Now, schools are using mobile devices to educate. Even my school has started using the laptop. All the sec 1s get a laptop for their lessons while we are encouraged to bring our laptops as and when we like.

That's why now I really like to type. Every time I get on the computer, I feel like typing. Haha, maybe that's the reason why I tweet so much :)

That's also the reason why I started this blog: I wanted to type. And I also wanted to record down the memories of my youth :) oh gosh, I am beginning to sound sappy -.-

Haha, maybe I should think of a story so that I can type out as much as I want to :) Just a random, full of rubbish story just for me. Hmm, I should type down every time I get an inspiration for a storyline and see if I can create it into a story.

Ahhh...how I love typing. I don't usually like to throw the 'love' word around as I think it should be used only when you really feel that emotion. Haish, people use the word too liberally these days...But I can honestly say that I love to type :)

Goodnight everyone

When the computer's down...

Hello :)

Sorry I haven't updated in a week. I wanted to use the laptop to update because I want to put in pictures but my dad keeps forgetting to buy a new battery for the laptop. As I said before, I don't like using Blogger Mobile because it does not allow me to put in the pictures the way I want it to :(

Anyway, I couldn't stand not updating, so I decided to use my mother's phone to update today. There probably wouldn't be much pictures except at the end. Sorry for that.

I didn't really do much this week. I visited the doctor on Tuesday to check my ankle because it was still hurting and the doctor said I injured my ligament and gave me 2 weeks' MC. and my mother, being paranoid, practically refused to let me get out of the house -.- So what did I do? I watched dramas :D Or more like variety shows.

I was watching videos on YouTube when I suddenly stumbled upon the music video of Electric Shock by F(x). I immediately fell in love with the group. I've heard of them before but I always thought it was a boy band. Now I know it's a girl group :)

Actually, one person especially caught my attention: Amber! She's the main rapper of the group. And I may know nothing about rapping but she isn't half bad :) She usually raps in English because she was born in the US, but she can rap in Korean too! *in awe*

Another thing different about her is that she's boyish. Even the clothes she wears in the music videos makes her look slightly boyish. And that is so different from the usually girly-cute or sexy-chick images most Korean girl groups present. With maybe the exception of 2NE1. They have a very rocker-chick vibe.

I am getting carried away... anyway, Amber just had that swag and charisma that made me notice her right away despite her being a back dancer. I was so...starstruck by her that I watched all the music videos of her group. And eventually started liking the entire group enough to learn all their names. I don't usually do that for any of the girl groups or boy bands I listen to unless I really really like them. The only other groups that I have all the member's name memorized is 2NE1 and BIG BANG. AHH BIG BANG <3 THE FIRST LOVE OF MY LIFE.

I listen to Super Junior and SNSD too. But I only remember the names of specific people that I like :) From SuJu, I like Heechul and Leetuk the most :) WHY DOES LEETUK HAVE TO GO FOR NS!!!!! TT.TT

Back to the topic...anyways, I liked Amber so much that I went to Wikipedia her and found out that she appeared in one episode of We Got Married (episode 53 of Khuntoria) and was also in the second season of Invincible Youth 2. Both of them are Korean Variety shows.

So I spent the entire week watching Invincible Youth 2 :) However, Amber was only in it until episode 19 as her schedule got busier after that and she couldn't make anymore time for the show :( In the beginning, I only wanted to watch until Amber left, but the show is so funny that I continued watching it.

I just finished watching episode 22. I decided to stop there because today's weather is really nice and I want to go out for a bit! And it is already going to be 6pm soon. So I better go out before it is 7pm...

Bye!! Okay, a picture before I go :)

15 :)

Hello world!

As you can tell by the title, I just turned 15! I can't believe I am actually 15... It's still so hard to imagine. I mean, it only seemed like a short time ago that I was celebrating my 12th birthday. Ahh... The memories :)

Soo, wanna know what I did today? I watched TV LOL. I didn't invite my friends to celebrate my birthday with me this year because I forgot -.- I was in a mess after coming back from the trip. Because I had to sort out all my holiday homework and stuff.

Actually, I wanted to go out today. I always stay cooped up at home during the holidays. The only time I ever go out is for the holiday trainings -.- Anyways, I already went out twice for street sales!

Moving on, the main reason why I couldn't go out today was because I twisted my ankle yesterday :( Can you freaking believe it?! Twisting my ankle the day before my birthday. That was also the reason why I spent the entire day watching TV.

I twisted my ankle during training yesterday. We were doing the usual drills and I think I landed wrongly after I did a lay-up. There was this crack sound and my ankle starting hurting like HELL. Honestly, I felt like crying at that moment, but I didn't. My face just contorted into the weirdest expression ever.

My coach helped me tape and bandage my ankle. And the juniors brought ice for me to ice the swollen area. Since, it hasn't healed yet, I am walking around with a limp -.-

I injured the same ankle twice before. And both times, it healed in about 3 days. I think, this time round, it'll take longer to heal...

Okay, enough about my ankle, it's my birthday! I am sorry I can't post up any pictures because I am using my mum's iPhone to blog and Blogger mobile doesn't put in pictures the way I want it to. Maybe I can put in a picture at the very end.

Anyways, my birthday turned out fair enough. My mum cooked her awesome pasta for me! And her chicken curry! And I am happy enough with that :) I think that was the only thing I missed when I was in Europe: my mum's cooking. And my awesome bed.

I was also reading all the rubbish that my friends posted in my Facebook Wall for my birthday :) haha, I have such cute friends XD Even some of the friends I made on the trip wished me happy birthday! See, that's how popular I am ;)

The only downside to my birthday was that it was freaking hot again. Like yesterday... I turned on all the fans in the house and yet, I wasn't cool enough. It was seriously hot. I spent most of the day in the living room. But, when my sister's tutor came, I went to my room to watch YouTube videos on my mum's phone. And I had to close the door because my room was in total chaos which I was too lazy to clean up. Without the air coming in from outside, my room was very stuffy. And needless to say, I was feeling very stuffed -.-

Ahh, but it is so much cooler at night now :) I am seriously enjoying the cool night breeze coming in.

I am still trying to convince my dad to install an air-con in the house. We don't really need air-con because we live on the 20th floor and it is quite cool up here especially when the strong monsoon wind blows.

However, it can get freaking hot during the drier months. I think it'll be enough if my dad installed an air-con in the dining room. It can get really cold in the early morning, so we don't need air-con in every single room.

So, that's about it for today. Honestly, my birthday wasn't that bad except for the hot weather. Maybe I should spend all my future birthdays like this too! Wait....this is how I spend everyday. It was just that today was extra special because it was birthday.

Already, I can't wait for my 16th birthday :)

Hot

Hello world :)

It's hot. It's freaking hot. It's too hot already. I can't think of anything else to say today because IT IS SO EFFING HOT.

seriously, why does it have to be so hott. For the past few months, it's been raining like it was nobody's business and now, it is so hotttttt. Actually, there was also a time when it would very very heavily in the morning, and then the sun come out shining like it didn't rain at all!! I hated that kind of weather. It'll be freaking humid because the air is wet and hot which is a very horrible combination. Especially when I have TRAINING.

So here I am, trying to fan myself while drinking Milo and eating cookies. And it isn't cold Milo T.T as we have run out of ice. Whatever, I'll go look through the fridge later.

And I can't believe I am wearing long pants in this hot weather!! This is what happens to you when your mother is far to conservative -.- I am practically dying of heat here and she still wants me to 'cover up'.

I have freaking jersey shorts for goodness sake! And they are not that short too! Why can't I wear that, huh? I understand if she wants me to wear long pants when I am going out, but at home?! Nobody's gonna see me, man!

I don't care. I don't want to die a day before my birthday. I think I'll go change into my jersey shorts now...

Haha, but I think my not taking a bath also contributes to me feeling very hot. Especially since I've just gotten back from training... So, I shouldn't place the entire blame on my mother...Maybe I should take a bath first.

And then do my homework. I tell you, my pile of homework can qualify as a mountain -.- I should really learn how to manage my time better...

Street Sales

Hello guys :)

Sorry I hadn't posted in two days. One reason was because I was really tired and another is because my dad took the computer -.- so now I am writing this post on my mum's iPhone. Which means: no pictures D:

Anyways, I have been going for street sales these past two days. Both of them for the YFC (Youth For Causes) groups in my school. Every year, they hold street sales to raise funds for their causes and students from my school will always sign up. Mostly for the CIP hours that we'll get lol.

I signed up last year too but I didn't go for any of it because I didn't want to do it alone. I know, I am pathetic -.- This year, I signed up with my friends, so I was more willing to go :)

I signed up for all the afternoon sessions because I know I'll wake up very late, haha :D Anyways, the street sales have been quite the experience for me...

I chose to do the street sales at Orchard Road, where I knew there will be alot more people to ask for donations. However, getting the guts to ask the people if they wanted to donate/buy the merchandise were another thing entirely.

For the most part, many of the people we approached were nice enough to either donate or buy the merchandise. And if they didn't want to donate, they told us nicely enough. But there were also quite a few very rude ones.

I hate it when people just walk away like we weren't there at all. They are just the lowest of the low. At least give us a hand signal that you don't want to donate at all. Ignoring us when we approached you so nicely is just plain. rude. I hate people like those.

It is not as if I am forcing you to donate. If you don't want to donate, then fine. It's none of my business why you don't wanna donate. But we at least have a right to be acknowledged.

Seriously, there were some people who just ignored us when we were standing right in front of them asking them very nicely if they wanted to support our cause. WE WERE FREAKING STANDING IN FRONT OF THEM. And they walked away like we weren't there.

I hate these kinds of people. At least I have the courtesy to shake my head when people ask me if I wanted to donate ( I try to donate every time but most of the time, I am out of money). These people don't even have that basic courtesy.

Would you like it if someone ignored you when you ask them so nicely? It is freaking annoying. You don't know how annoyed and frustrated I felt when some of these people did that.

But never mind, they weren't the majority of the people we asked. Just some of them. Especially the businessmen *ahem*.

I like to say that my friend had quite alot of guts to go up to all those people to ask them for donations. I only asked a few people. I was the one holding the merchandise most of the time, while my friends did all the talking. LOL.

It's been quite the experience for me. Because this is the first ever time that I ever did street sales. I am going for another one next Tuesday. I hope I encounter less rude people on that day. Seriously, they kind of spoiled my mood for the last two days... But never mind.

Sigh.... Training tomorrow...plus, I haven't started my holiday homework yet T.T my life sucks TTOTT

Okay, to end of this post, a quote that perfectly describes what I am doing with my life now -.- and it mentions The Hunger Games :D zomg, it's still like more than a year until Catching Fire -.-

The trip :)

Hi guys :)

I woke up really late today. And it was really really late...even for someone like me who wakes up really late. I woke up at 3pm... .__. Stupid jet lag. I could only fall asleep at 3am. And even then, I was forcing myself to fall asleep.

Ahhh, I am really missing Europe :) It was really really very beautiful. All the streets and shops and houses. Though I didn't really like Paris. It was too crowded for my liking. But I loved Normandy and HonFleur. They are just the kind of towns that I like :) It was so quiet and secluded. Sadly, I don't have that many pictures because my camera battery ran out in the first day and I stupidly forgot to bring my charger -.- And all the pictures I took using my phone are a little blurry.

I took ALOT of pictures of fields and grasses because I never saw so much in my entire life before. Seriously. The scenery was quite beautiful too. Especially the sea. It was really the kind of beautiful blue-ish gray-green sea that you only get to see in movies. And the thing I liked the most about the sea was that it wasn't marred by any cargo ships etc. In Singapore, if you go to any sea, you'll see huge ships in the horizon which really completely spoils the view -.- And the water is an ugly murky gray :( Look, here's some pictures of the sea at Omaha Beach

The sky was really cloudy that day

the shore!

so pretty rite?
The beach was also quite clean too! Not like in Singapore, where there's litter everywhere -.- And there weren't that many people on the beach because it was quite cold that day. And we visited Normandy on the 5th and 6th of June. So, many of the people were watching the commemoration ceremony put up by the soldiers as 6th of June was the Battle of Normandy in 1944. That's why we were able to see the war veterans. Many of them were veterans from the Allied Forces: America, Britain, France and Russia. I think the German soliders came to pay their respects too.

I think it was really very touching the way that the date is commemorated every year. It is a very big thing over there. Many of the inhabitants of Normandy will come to see the parade and meet with the war veterans. The American Normandy Cemetery were also filled with people paying their respects to the soldiers' graves. We saw quite a few graves decorated with flowers and the American flag. Here's one that I took:

I feel quite bad for this soldier, he died on my birthday! And it also wasn't right for me to take pictures of their graves, now that I think about it...

Behind this soldier's grave is an area cordoned off for the graves of Theodore Roosevelt Jr and Quentin Roosevelt. There was also another grave there but I can't remember whose :( It really showed that the war seriously spared nobody as to take away two of President Roosevelt's sons. Actually, Quentin Roosevelt died in WWI. But President Roosevelt wanted his grave to be in the same place as his second son. I manged to take a picture of the graves but my phone camera sucks at zoom so I won't post it up. But what made me the saddest the most were graves like this:

This was taken by my friend at the cemetery. This was the epitaph given to all the soldiers who could not be identified. I found it really sad that they lost their lives for freedom and yet, they could not be acknowledged. It is no wonder 6th of June is such a big day for France. It was the day when they were liberated from Germany. And for that, they are very very grateful towards the American soldiers. Not like in Singapore, where Total Defense Day is such a 'whatever' day here.

Okay, enough melancholic thoughts. The trip was not all that depressing. It was more like an eye-opening experience for me. And it really made me appreciate all the WWII soldiers more. To me, WWII is no longer something that is sanitised by the textbook and something that we need to memorise to pass the exam. It involves REAL people with REAL HUMAN emotions. To end this post on a happy note, here are some picture I took in Berlin before my camera ran out :)

haha, the shadows of my friend and me :)

the graffiti is cool or what huh?!

I am back!

Hey guys!

I have finally returned after my 10-day trip to Europe! The trip was freaking AWESOME, I tell you. That is probably the only time I'll ever get to go to Europe in my youth. They had such beautiful scenery over there! So much more than Singapore...haha, mostly because it was at least a hundred times bigger than Singapore. Every single highway was lined with trees or plains. And we went around so many roundabouts! Our hotels were fantastic too :)

The places we visited were a total eye-opener for me as we visited quite a few WWII sites like Checkpoint Charlie, La Coupole, Arromanches etc. We even got to see a few war veterans when we visited Memorial Pour La Paix, a museum providing information on the Battle of Normandy

Seriously, seeing the many veterans that came to the museum to commemorate the memory of all those who died in the battle nearly made me cry, thinking about how much they went through. I can't really explain this feeling in words, so I shall try not to. And we visited the Normandy American Cemetery the next day too. The cemetery was HUGE. And to think that it only housed 40% of all those who died in war, including Theodore Roosevelt Junior.

I won't be posting up the pictures today as I am feeling really tired, even though I returned yesterday. But one thing I miss about Europe is the cold cold air! It was such a refreshing change from Singapore's humidity that I am actually missing it :D

See you later~~
